Ian Stuart’s love and passion for art, music, theatre, and most importantly, fashion, has been a constant inspiration for him as a bridal and occasion wear designer. Some designers fall into fashion. Ian Stuart was born into it. He won the Bridal Buyer Awards’ Bridal Designer of the Year competition every consecutive year from 2004 to 2007, won an Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award in 2008, and was voted UK Bridal Designer of the Year in 2010. His work is, to say the least, highly regarded.
His bridal and evening wear designs that he created while receiving his fashion education in London won numerous awards. After graduating, Ian started his next step of training with a spell working as a protégé of Belville Sassoon – one of London’s most prestigious couture houses, who specialise in creating gowns of the highest quality for socialites and members of the Royal Family. The training he received at Belville Sassoon gave him an invaluable knowledge of proportion, cut, balance and wearability – tenets that are evident in the quality of his work. Before moving to New York to further his career, he created bi-annual collections for leading London-based evening wear and bridal manufacturers. Once in New York, he continued designing bridal wear labels that went on to be sold worldwide.
